Today is day 7 of me  restarting the Paul McKenna weight loss system and it seems to be working a lot better for me this time around. I think the main thing is that I’ve started to listen to the CD in the daytime (thanks hermanita), so instead of falling asleep to it, which actually, PK says in the book you can do, I’m awake and focussed on what I’m doing.

I’ve also been exercising everyday. I’ve felt very motivated, but alas it’s been too much. Today is going to be a bed day because I’ve overdone it. What I think I’m going to do is alternate the exercises so one day will be Walk Away The Pounds and other days will be just stretching,  and maybe some strength work.

I’m hoping to start swimming lessons soon too, the teacher can only do evening classes which was a shame because I wanted to get out of the house in the day, but c’est la vie!

Here is the Chicken recipe I tried yesterday from the forum challenge I spoke about in my meal plan menu

Paprika chicken, healthy recipe, frugal, money savinh

It was really tasty, I enjoyed it, and could finish my dinner, which means I have some left today which is handy because I’m too achy to cook today.

I didn’t have any eggs in the house and wanted something sweet… OK let me be honest, I wanted to find a way to not rely on eggs as they are really expensive in my opinion.

I saw a dairy free recipe on this blog, and I thought that they looked amazing. I halved the recipe because I only wanted to make six, but it ended up making 12. 6 of my silicone cupcake cakes, and 6 fairy cake size cases.

I didn’t have enough caster sugar, so used brown sugar instead.

They came out lovely. A bit too sweet, which I think was the brown sugar’s fault. I’m going to try them again next week with only caster sugar, and I’m sure they’ll come out lovely. I’m lucky enough to have a jug I bought from the States, so didn’t have to convert the measurements.

Day 31 (Weds 18th June)

Yesterday I did no walking in the morning as I intended to go to the pool for an aqua class in the evening. It wasn’t a nice experience and I was a bit down when I came home.

Day 32 Thurs 29th June

I got up this morning and did my walk with Leslie Sansone, and got up to 0.25 of a mile!

I didn’t feel good when I drove home from the hospital. In hindsight, driving to any medical appointment (gp not included) is a bad idea as I’m always sore after the twists and turns they make me do.

I was really hungry today, lucky there isn’t any snacks in the house!

I had intended to treat myself to scrambled egg on toast, but after the weigh in I stuck with 2 portions of melon.

Lunch

Fridge bottom soup I used the left over pepper, onion, carrots and mushrooms. With a slice of toast.

Dinner

Greens and mackerel and a slice of toast.

I steamed the greens, tomatoes and spring onions, with the water I washed them with. No oil butter or salt added! The salt came from the smoked mackerel.

Snacks

I had 3 and then took another 3 a bit later.

I had 2 glasses of wine this size with a friend.

I also had some of the sorbet I made, the picture was not very clear though.

Tomorrow I am going out for a friends birthday and she has said that she wants to go to a particular place because they have a chocolate dessert she loves. I’m not sure if that means that we’re only going for dessert, or for lunch. I’ve had a look at the menu online and have decided that I’ll have hot chocolate for dessert if it’s only dessert we’re having, and if we’re having lunch, I’ll have feta cheese stuffed peppers which is described on the menu as

Charred red peppers, filled with feta cheese, plum tomato, green beans and roasted butternut squash, served on a bed of tagliatelle, tossed in pesto.

It sounds lovely, quite healthy, but also a bit naughty with the cheese.

I got a letter this morning to say I’m now on Employment Support Allowance. Sounds like good news right? NO

I’m not supposed to be on it as I’m getting paid from my employer.  I’ve told them and they are not listening and I can see in a few months, they’ll write to me telling me I’ve made fraudulent claims, and they will stop ALL my benefits while they investigate. I’m really not sure what they need to do to get the system running more efficiently, but they need to do something because this way is simply not working.

I’ve been trying to get through to them for the past 2 days and all I get is a message saying to try later.

2 mushroom, onion and cheese tarts with broccoli. I made enough for two each, but I still haven’t figured my mums oven yet and completely burned 2 of the tart cases. I dished up 1 each but my sister had eaten somewhere else and so I took my other one later.

I attempted to make a coconut version of ‘chocolate cake in a mug’, but I ate half and decided that I didn’t like it.

Day 25

One of my good friends birthday and she warned me that it was going to be an unhealthy day. She had planned a dinner, and then rang me yesterday to tell me that she was coming for me early so we could have a Champagne brunch.

Breakfast

3 portions of mango.

Lunch

A huge packet of crisps, some potato wedges and breaded mushroom with a couple of Kir Royales. Apple crumble and ice cream.

I must pat myself on the back here. We went to a Thai restaurant and I didn’t order any of my usual fried starters.

Side of steamed spinach shared with some else as a starter.

Chicken green curry with steamed (not coconut which I usually get) rice.

A cocktail, I can’t remember the ingredients, but it was lovely.

As I get Disability Living Allowance, I am entitled to free car tax. When the reminder came, I sent off for the tax exemption form. I sent it back on the 11th May. The end of the month came, and I still hadn’t received the exemption certificate, and so I phoned the office and asked what had happened.

I was told that the form had been received, and that they’ll send it out as soon as possible. I phoned again to check last week, and was told it will be in the post. Today, I phoned up to find out where the certificate was, and was told there is no record of me sending back the form, and no record of me phoning. I was furious!

The guy said that he would have to send out a duplicate copy and that I should ring the DVLA and ask them what I should do to ensure my car doesn’t get towed, or I get a fine.

I phoned the DVLA and was told to either a) buy a tax disc or b) get my car of the road.

I can’t do B, so I had to buy a tax disc today. I can get a refund once I get the certificate, but will lose be charged a full month, for any part month I use. I’m pissed off. I’ve written a letter of complaint and have requested that they pay me back for the month I will be charged for.

This is a stark reminder to get names when dealing with anyone by phone.

I got yet another 50 billion page form from the Job Centre today. After sorting  out the forms with the DLA, I was not in the mood to talk to another benefit department, so will deal with them first thing tomorrow.

Even though I’m losing weight, I decided to get some new bottoms to wear, I’m sick of wearing the same pair of jeans all the time. I set myself a rule. I could only spend £5 max on each item from a charity shop. I went to three today and didn’t find anything. I tried on a pair of trousers from marks and spencers and it was too tight. It was a size 18, I would have been upset, but the dress I was wearing was a 10!

Weighed myself at the pharmacy today and was 12.12, that’s one pound off from last week. I’m happy with that, like I’ve said I don’t want this to be a quick fix. I’ve figured out though if I want to lose about 2 stone, it’s going to take 4 months. That seems like ages!

I went to the pool today for the first time in a fortnight. It felt so good! My exercise routine in the water is getting quite boring now, I’m going to see if I can find some new exercises to do online.

Snickers bar… I know I know, I haven’t made any soup this week, and I was in the 99p store and spotted 6 snicker bars for 99p! My sister loves these so I decided to treat her. I had one as I was hungry. I am also proud of the fact that I picked up a bag of fudge, but then put it down again.

I barely slept last night as I miscounted my sleeping pills again and I’m up in pain without them. That plus the thunder has had me up for ages now. I was trying to stay up for apprentice, but I can’t manage any longer.
I’ve also remembered I’ve got this bloody interview with the job centre tomorrow at 10am. It’s not even at my local one, so I’m going to have to get a cab in the morning. I hope that it isn’t too long.

The bra I’ve had to buy since putting on weight has got looser! I’ve got my weigh in tomorrow, but don’t know if the pharmacy is going to be open before I have to leave for this bloody appointment.
