It took me the whole day, but I’m not complaining. Before I went on the pain management course I would have tried to do it all at once and then have to spend two days in bed recovering.

I took my time and paced my day and got what I wanted done.

Now let me just say, that as nice as it is to be young looking, it is very annoying when you have mobility problems, make the effort to go to the shop, only to be turned back by someone a lot younger than you.

A few weeks ago when we had our first real sunny day, I was with my sister (18) and decided to pick up a bottle of cava. At the till, the cashier asked for ID, I thought fair enough, I’m  with my sister and her friend all similarly dressed. I didn’t have any ID, so my sister showed hers and off we went.

I was in Lidl today buying some butter and decided to treat myself to a bottle of wine. They had my favourite French wine Pouilly Fumé, on special offer for £5.99. That’s really good as it usually at least double that price so I hardly drink it nowadays.

I got to the till and the cashier asked me for ID. I laughed and said ‘I used to be able to get into clubs at 16 because I looked over 21, now I’m nearly 30 I can’t buy wine because I look under 21’. She laughed, but still held on to the bottle. She called her manager over and these two young things, who didn’t even look 21 themselves, were scrutinising every pore on my face.

Then they refused to sell it to me!

I couldn’t believe it, the woman behind me offered to buy it for me, but they said no to that too.

They suggested that I come back with ID, but I choose to go shopping at a very specific time when it is quiet and there is no queues as I cannot manage to stand in them.

I’m not blaming the cashier, she’s only doing her job, and now they personally can be fined, I wouldn’t take the risk either. I just find it really annoying in a funny sort of way. I better look for my photo driving license and keep it with me from now on. Funny old world eh?

I have been very good with my eating. I simply can’t afford to eat badly. The only time I eat naughty things is round my friends house, and I try not to go out too often. I also don’t have alcohol in the house because it is expensive and I drink it too easily because I like the taste.

However some unhealthy things have made their way into my home! My Aunty in New York has the best next door neighbour. She makes the loveliest cakes and the first time I went, she really  liked me so every time my mum goes to New York, she bakes me a cake. Now because she is American the cake is HUGE! My mum and I split it and it’s still bigger than a normal size cake. It’s also delicious. It’s not very light, but not too heavy and the icing…

I took a piece for my sick friend yesterday and will take her another piece today, but I don’t want to share! As it’s homemade, it has to be eaten sooner rather than later.

I’m going to adjust my portion sizes so I can eat cake. It really is lovely, and it would be rude to not eat it I think when she has made so much effort.

The other enemy that has found its way into my quarters is Sorrel. Jamaican Sorrel. My granny makes it every Christmas and it’s gorgeous, but it”s got a lot wine and rum in it. Here’s an article about it.

It never actually lasts for more than a day in my presence, but what I’m going to do this time is force myself to have a glass a week… Maybe two… No No just one!

I am doing so well, my jeans are getting loose again. The only jeans that I have that fit me are my ‘fat’ jeans that I had for my pmt week. They were never supposed to fit properly and I’ve been living in them for the past few months.
